Daily Trail Report for 1.23.26.

No significant new snow in the forecast suddenly brought to mind Mary Oliver’s poem “The Summer Day” and the line:

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

The weather we have is what we have, and there is always something to do outside even if we are missing fresh snow a little bit.

Community Report: Look Up and Gaze in Wonder

Our current snow conditions are providing so many opportunities to look up and gaze in wonder.  So often, we focus on our skis, snowshoes, or bike tracks, when if we simply lift our eyes to the skies, we come face to face with the unique beauty around us!

This week provided an opportunity to explore two new two new loops from the Bradley Taggert trailhead. With out of town guests in tow, we especially enjoyed a loop via snowshoe and classic ski to the Geraldine Lucas Cabin. The view of Disappointment Peak was unusual (just below and left of the Grand) and we took time to explore all the buildings and their related descriptions.

How many times do we repeat our favorite trails and not take the time to inspect the little things?

Geraldine Lucas was the second woman to climb the Grand Teton in 1924! Read more about Geraldine, and the cabin renovation project, on the Grand Teton National Park Foundation site.
