Featured Fun in the Tetons
With all of this sunshine and all of this snow there are three important things for a winter trail enthusiast to do: clear your schedule, grab your gear, and get outside! Below you will find 3 examples of an ideal day out on winter trails in Jackson Hole and Teton Valley. Choose from one of these curated adventures or use your imagination to create your own! With 109 mapped trails to choose from on JHNordic.com the possibilities are endless.
A day in Wilson, WY: Treat yourself to a cup of coffee and pastry from Persephone West Bank and then head over to Teton Pines Nordic, groomed daily for both classic and skate skiing over and around the summer golf course. Go for the stunning views of the Tetons and the Snake River Range, stay for the perfect grooming over super-fun-to-ski rolling rises. With last night’s overnight lows being in the single digits we’re recommending coffee first to allow the snow just a little time to warm up, once it does it should be fast and lively!
A day in Grand Teton National Park: The options in the park are nearly endless. You can walk or ski the groomed inner park road (donate to grooming operations here), snowshoe your own path in untracked snow, or follow one of the skier tracked trails to historic places such as the Lucas Fabian Cabins. Check out the history of the Lucas Fabian Cabins here. Pro-tip, the main cabin has a south-facing covered porch, often snow-free and an ideal place for a break to admire the view. On a day like today be sure to pack a picnic and try to let time stop as you enjoy your surroundings.
A day in Teton Valley: Teton Canyon offers lots of options with impressive views and friendly passersby. All modes of human powered winter recreation are allowed and it is open to dogs too! We recommend you bring a buff even if you don’t feel like you need one as the way home can be a bit breezy. This trail is generously groomed multiple days a week (including Mondays!) by Teton Valley Trails and Pathways, offering free access but donations are always appreciated.
