Description:
The Lower Pasture to Mule Pasture loop trail is set in the forested hills above Turpin Meadow Ranch. Turpin Meadow Ranch is managed by Ron & Bobbi Stiffler and the trail system was designed by Olympic Nordic Skiers and former owners Hans and Nancy Johnstone. Trails begin from the main lodge at the ranch, where the road ends and the Continental Divide Trail begins. The trail offers scenic views of the Teton range down the valley to the west. The loop can be skied in either direction.
Skiing Experience: Suitable for all skill levels.
Winter Conditions: The Winter season typically runs from mid-December to mid-March with daily trail grooming of the 15 km groomed Nordic ski trails, as well as the fat bike single track trails.
Fat Bikers: Fat bike single-track trails are available.
Dog Owners: Leashed dogs are allowed on this trail. Please be courteous and remember to pick up after your pets.
Additional Information: Turpin Meadow Ranch makes an excellent day trip from Jackson or an overnight stay in the cozy log cabins by the river. With home-cooked food, beverages, and warm hospitality for both day and overnight visitors, it makes for a terrific base in northern Jackson Hole skiing.
Directions:
Beginnings: Start at the southeast corner of the main ranch area, just north (left) of the snowmobile-groomed road that continues east and up to the Continental Divide. The trail begins with a short climb over 100 yards, then gradually heads left (southeast) across an opening in the forest, following the wood fence. The trail is well marked by pink ribbons and grooming tracks maintained by the Ranch.
Views: Views of the Teton range down the valley to the west can be seen from the ranch and meadows.
Extended Exploration: Other trails at the Ranch run through the willows and open meadows of Turpin Meadow beside the Buffalo Fork.
Return: The trail descends to the valley floor following the pasture fences and willows into the Ranch barn area.
