Daily Trail Report for 1.28.26.
High pressure, favorable temps and dedicated groomers are maintaining excellent conditions on the groomed tracks around the Tetons. The Teton Park Road was fantastic Sunday and Monday. A fresh groom at Alta Nordic in the wee hours of Tuesday coupled with a warmer morning made for a creamy soft corduroy cover on top of a firm hard smooth surface.
Now is a great time to be a Nordic track skier! And to start being a track a skier!

Groomer Updates
Trail Creek, Tuesday 1.27.26
We have some snow and we have lots of sun, so why not have some fun today on a great Nordic ski! If you come out to Trail Creek what you will discover is that nearly every trail has been groomed in the past 36 hours and that the Husky was out again this morning buffing out the race course pictured below for the upcoming Wyoming High School Race Friday and Saturday. Even though snowfall has been less than normal, the continued moderate temperatures have allowed the snow we have to keep working hard, making the skiing quite nice.
In addition to grooming we have also begun a bit of snow mining to prevent any of the thinner spots from wearing through; you might find a pile or two of soft snow you would want to avoid today.
Looking ahead, word has it that the Nordic Masters course might be moving to Trail Creek this week instead of the Teton Pines, wait for official word from Coach Rob.
Look for system wide grooming Wednesday and then focusing on the race Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Groomer’s choice for today is to see how fast you can lap the race course.
Meet New Nordic Friends

Having fun with ski drills up one of the Alta hills.
Sue Wolff and Victoria Hollingsworth, two Teton Valley skiers, have organized social skis this winter. There are two weekly meet ups, Tuesday at 9:30 am and Friday at 4:30 pm. With conditions so good at the Alta Track, that is the planned location for the near term.
Today we skied and chatted for a warm up, got to know each other a little and enjoyed the perfect temperatures and sunshine. Then I chased these two women, both of whom enjoy racing and are fresh off the Pinedale STAmpede, up this hill three times for the fun of learning what drills they are doing to continue learning and having fun as skiers.
Although basic ski ability is needed*, both Victoria and Sue are happy to ski beside you at your pace if you are newer, chase you if you are faster or see you at the intersections if pairs are skiing different paces. The social skis are an opportunity to meet more people, share the joys of moving over snow and continue to build the Nordic community.
*Teton Nordic Ski School is an excellent place to start if you need a lesson before you are ready to head out on your own, or if you want formal instruction at any level. They teach frequently on the Alta Nordic Track.
