Daily Trail Report for 3.02.26.

Perfect corduroy and deep set classic tracks may be hard to come by, but remember, going outside and moving your body will feel good no matter what surface is under your feet. We can’t choose the weather or the reality of the snow conditions, but we can choose how we respond. I encourage you to get out there with a smile, some water proof layers, and a snack; go find something to delight in.

Planned Monday Grooming

Teton Canyon

Cache Creek

Daily grooming

Shooting Star – CLOSED

Teton Pines – effected by warm temps and rain

Trail Creek – still has snow!

Turpin Meadow Ranch – good snow coverage

This will be another challenging week for groomers as they try to create a fresh ski surface during warm temps and sticky precipitation. Scheduled grooming will likely be adjusted. If a fresh ski track can make or break your plans be sure to check the grooming page for the most current snapshot.

From the Groomers

Please keep in mind that these updates are from Sunday’s groom. For the most current updates please check here.

Trail Creek

While some places around the valley that normally have snow don’t, at Trail Creek we still have enough snow to have some nice Nordic skiing. Hopefully the weather cooperates, our niveous bounty continues, and we have many more days of lovely winter.

Sunday’s grooming at Trail Creek actually began Saturday evening with a Husky pass through the woods. In the current conditions, a viable grooming strategy is to move the classic track from side to side on subsequent days. We don’t have enough time to make double passes on all the trails and many are narrow enough they don’t benefit from double passes, however switching the classic track from side to side results in good central skate conditions with a fresh classic track on one side or the other. Classic skiers do need to pay attention as to which side has the best track. Grooming continued in the fields this morning with favorable results. There are a few icy patches showing here and there, but in general coverage is adequate and skiing will bring smiles. Groomer’s choice for today is a tour of the National Forest trails.

Teton Pines

We weren’t able to groom due to the temps yesterday. We still have snow today (Sunday 3/1) so come ski because the rain will probably cause us serious problems after Monday. We will update as the weather unfolds.

Turpin Meadow Ranch

The sun and warm temps have had an impact on the snow but fear not, there is plenty of it. In fact the freeze-thaw had started to set things up nicely for crust cruising in the meadow if you time it right.

Grooming times will likely shift in order to make the best track possible, this means grooming for each day may happen the night before. TMR closes in two weeks; March 15 is the last day to enjoy the lodge and all of it’s offerings.

TVTAP

Some melt out of the classic tracks has been happening on parts of the Alta track. The Southern Valley Trails classic track was reset as best as could be done on Sunday. There is still skiing to be had at those venues. At Teton Canyon the skate lane was reset on Sunday morning, if conditions allowed the North side classic would also be reset, South side classic was still in decent shape from Friday evening’s groom.

Go have fun on your skis, snowshoes, fat bike or feet!
