Fat biking update from Teton Mtn Bike Tours
Dave Hunger, Teton Mountain Bike Tours, has been out riding, leading tours. Trails are generally in good condition, with a wide selection, either snow packed, groomed or even a few gravel-dirt roads.
Note that some plowed roads are still open until Dec 15th (Gros Ventre Road beyond Slide Lake).
Granite Hot Springs Road is snow covered, nicely packed thanks to the dog sled operation.
At Mike Harris (just East of Victor, off Hwy 33) Nemo, Pole line, and Yeti trail are all riding well.
Teton Canyon and Grand Targhee trails are groomed.
Cache Creek and Hagen Trail has been groomed by Friends of Pathways to Noker Mine Draw .
Remember your best trail etiquette, sharing the trail with skiers, walkers, dogs, and only to ride when the trail is firm. Also don’t forget to respect wildlife and winter wildlife closures
Remember no riding on GTNP trails or closed roads such as Moose-Wilson road past Granite canyon to Death canyon and Teton Park Road between Taggart and Signal. (open roads only)

Trail Creek Nordic
Last Updated: 12/10
Two of Our Neighbors!
If you’ve been watching the critters around the valley for years this is probably old hat for you, but if not, in recent years we’ve had two different species of deer hanging out on our trails. While the mule deer (note the big, mule like ears) has been around in the early season for as long as anyone can remember, the whitetail deer (note the erect white tail) seems to be a somewhat newer immigrant. They both tend to move on to less snowy environs when the snow gets deeper, but in the past few weeks we’ve had several sets of both mule deer and whitetail does and fawns, and one rather impressive mule deer buck; one of the things that you might be lucky enough to spot on your next Nordic outing.
If your next Nordic outing is to Trail Creek today, you’ll find lots of good skiing. Today’s grooming was a Pisten Bully best line skate set of all recently groomed trails (pretty much everything except for East Fields and Mug’s Meadow) with a reworking of classic tracks on Armin’s and the close field. As of 11:30 AM the temperature was -3ºC/27ºF under mostly cloudy skies with a moderate wind. If your plan is for classic skiing you might want to get here sooner than later as there is substantial drifting occurring in the fields, but all in all skaters or early season classic skiers will find plenty of good skiing.
Groomer’s choice for today is Armin’s.

1pm: Tomorrow Cache, Game, May Park, and Three Creek will be groomed. Unfortunately the coverage is still low so I will be using the Snowmobile as to not damage the Pistenbully. We just need another 6” or so to safely get the PB out. The West Bank has more snow as of now.
7am: The levee has been groomed with the Pistenbully and should be in great shape for skate and classic skiing. Stilson will be groomed with the Pistenbully shortly. The school fields will be groomed with the snowmobile since it only received an inch or two of new snow.

Due to the minimal snowpack, we’ll continue to only groom the yellow dog loop and the orange leg down hole 3 & 4 through at least Wednesday. During this time you may also see our snowmobile throughout the day as we’ll be shoveling snow onto bridges & other low snowpack areas. Good news, is that forecast is calling for another wave of snow beginning Thursday and I hope this will allow us to open some additional areas by the weekend. Next Update will be Thursday and enjoy the sunny skiing until then!

Jackson Hole Ski Club Moose Chase Cancelled
Introducing the JHSC Nordic Carnival Races!
Saturday, February 8th | Trail Creek
The JH Ski Club recently determined that the Moose Chase Nordic Ski Race was not meeting the goals of the Club. The effort that went into making the Moose Chase a large, regional event did not fit well with the Club’s venue at Trail Creek and ultimately was not benefiting the JHSC Nordic Program. The Club will pull the Moose Chase offline for 2020 with discussions continuing between our Nordic Program, staff, and board about how to bring back an improved community Nordic event in the future. The changes are designed to increase resources for the Club and place more emphasis on its core mission of serving 500 local student-athletes.
In its place, the JH Ski Club will host a new JH Ski Club Winter Nordic Carnival on Sat. Feb 8th, with a series of fun races for all Ski club ages, masters, and alumni. Designed to engage all of our JHSC Nordic teams, there will be standard 1,3, 5, and 10km mass start races and a team NordicX sprint. The Ski Club coaches will be organizing sprint teams early in the season. One team will consists of (1.Lollipopper or Teewinot. 2.Development. 3.Junior. 4. Prep or Comp). Teams will have the opportunity prior to the event to train together, talk tactics and technique during regular practice times at Trail Creek.
Registration/Entry:
Race entry is open for all JHSC athletes, and all are highly encouraged to participate. For more info: jhskiclub.org/news/
