Daily Trail Report for 2.17.26.

This wisdom shared by Tyler S. at Shooting Star is likely universal for all of the trails we report on: “It looks to be a snowy week out on the Nordic trails. Windy and snowy conditions will bring storm skiing today and tomorrow as a new cold front passes through. Keep up with the forecast and plan ahead if venturing out on the trails during the storm, as drifty conditions are likely if windy. Overall, snow depths are holding and hopefully will continue to improve after this next wave of snow passes.”
At a Glance
- Wintery weather and warm temperatures today could result in storm skiing at a lot of trails
- If you’re looking for the freshest groomed tracks click here to see where and when the groomers have been out
- It’s a good idea to carry glide wax today as the snow will likely be sticky
General Weather – snow expected
Mountain Weather is forecasting good odds for snow showers. See the bar chart below for estimated totals in the valleys and the mountains.

What to Expect During a Storm Cycle
The adage “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing” encourages us all to prepare ourselves for our adventures by adapting our clothing choices to the current elements.
In addition to bundling appropriately during a winter storm, we should choose the right activity as well. Knowing that skiing will be great in the days to come, remember while it is incredibly beautiful to be out in a huge dump, fresh snow is always a bit softer and slower. With that said, fat biking and winter walking/running was great while the weather was dry and the trails were firm. During a storm cycle wheels and feet can leave ruts in the impressionable trail. Please consider other modes of winter trail travel (like skiing or snowshoeing) during a storm cycle and wait until the trails firm up again before fat biking or walking/running.

Groomer Updates
Trail Creek Nordic
In the past two days, the Husky has made multiple journeys through Woolsey Woods after a several week pause and things are looking quite nice in there. In fact, things are looking pretty nice everywhere at Trail Creek. Monday’s Husky grooming covered nearly every trail that has been groomed so far this year with the exception of Faceplant. Cle’s Climb is back with the lollipop at the top and as well as Mug’s Meadow which also returned Monday. While not quite everywhere, we have as many classic tracks on the trails as any time this year.
Teton Pines
We weren’t able to effectively reset the classic track on Monday 2/16, but it was soft enough to be ok. The skate track was fast in the morning but softened as the day went on. More snow and cold temps are on the way, so we should be back to mid-winter conditions in the next 24 hours!
Turpin Meadow Ranch
If the temperatures are around 30 degrees while it’s snowing we will let the trails accumulate snow for the day until the expected cooler weather comes in on Wednesday. But remember, storm skiing at Turpin is so fun, it’s a great time to explore the hills without feeling out of control. And the snowshoeing on the single track is particularly magical during a snowfall.
TVTAP
Regular grooming continues for Teton Canyon, Alta Track, and Southern Valley Nordic. The Centennial Pathway is groomed on Thursdays with additional bonus grooms when possible. Horseshoe Canyon is groomed once per week, usually Thursdays. And woohoo! The Southern Valley Single Track is getting groomed again!
Go have fun on your skis, snowshoes, fat bike or feet!
