Daily Trail Report for 1.27.26.

The quote by Heraclitus “the only constant in life is change” is being challenged this winter in terms of our weather… It’s another day of more of the same… and we’re not complaining. The sun is shining and trails are in good shape despite the lack of snow. Snow conditions off trail are ideal for light Nordic touring or snowshoeing. And the roads are pretty easy to navigate which means you can explore a little further beyond your normal routes if you’re so inclined.

If the mundane is making you crave a little shake up, you’re not alone. Novelty as defined as deviation from one’s routine has many benefits. In short, new things are good for us to try. Maya Angelou’s quote “if you don’t like something change it.  If you can’t change it, change your attitude” was on my mind as I wrote this post. While we can’t change the weather we can pick a new trail to explore or try a different over snow activity.

Nearby Nordic Vacations

A month ago we were in the heart of winter holidays: visits with friends and family, cookies, gifts, and festive lights made the long dark nights a little easier to embrace. Now the days are getting a wee bit longer and routines are starting to feel a little more repeated.

A little novelty mixed in with outdoor adventure can be a fantastic way to reset and recharge. The lack of new snow means roads are relatively easy to travel this winter so I encourage you to look into a little getaway if you can. Click the link below to find the shortlist of some of our favorite spots.

Winter Trails Bingo is a playful nudge to mix things up and see things in a new way. This is your invitation to break out of your usual routine and add a spark of novelty to your day. Whether that means a different trail, a new activity, or an event, a little variety can make winter feel fresh again… one square at a time.

Lots of Changes at Trail Creek

While it does seem like much is staying the same when it comes to winter trails right now, there are some changes you should be aware of at Trail Creek. Thanks to the groomer for sharing!

“What was supposed to be a quiet winter, race-wise, has changed dramatically in the past week.  January 30 & 31 was scheduled to be a Wyoming High School race in Casper, but because of the way the snow has been falling this winter, this race is now happening at Trail Creek.  The other major change is that the next Intermountain Division Junior National Qualifier which was scheduled for February 7 & 8 has also moved to Trail Creek because of lack of snow in the original venue of Bogus Basin, Idaho.”
