GTNP Update

Grand Teton National Park road crews have cleared snow from the north end of the Moose-Wilson Road between Murie Ranch Road junction and Death Canyon Road junction. This section of road was closed during the government shutdown.

Motor vehicles may now use Moose-Wilson Road to the normal seasonal closure at Death Canyon Road. Please drive carefully as packed snow and ice may persist on this road and other park roads.

Trail Creek Report

Course Inspection!

It’s a glorious day today at Trail Creek with a blazing sun, calm winds, and a very pleasant temperature of -8ºC/18ºF as of 11:45 AM, a perfect day for the racing teams to show up and inspect some race courses!  That inspection will of course lead to Friday and Saturday’s Wyoming High School Nordic Invitational Races here at Trail Creek. Friday’s races begin at 1 PM with Saturday’s start time being 10 AM.  One clarification; it was not specified on the original map that Friday’s skate race will entail 2 laps of the course, that has been updated on the amended map.

Today’s grooming was multiple Pisten Bully passes on both the skate and classic courses for the races.  Fresh classic tracks were placed as well.  We are asking people to please restrict their skiing Friday morning to the National Forest section of trails accessed from the end of the Old Pass Road although today and Saturday afternoon everything will be fair game.

Speaking of game, we have had a squirrel move in on the cabin bird feeder; he is quite a spectacle if he happens to be foraging when you’re in the cabin and is being tolerated as long as he doesn’t become too gluttonous.

Groomer’s choice for today is to ski the race courses.
