“It’s one of our favorite events of the year,” said Leslie Williams. “We hope to see people who use the trails often, but also to inspire folks to try out new trails during the winter.”
See you on our trails!
GTNP Update
Grand Teton National Park road crews have cleared snow from the north end of the Moose-Wilson Road between Murie Ranch Road junction and Death Canyon Road junction. This section of road was closed during the government shutdown.
Motor vehicles may now use Moose-Wilson Road to the normal seasonal closure at Death Canyon Road. Please drive carefully as packed snow and ice may persist on this road and other park roads.

Race Prep!
Things are gearing up for a big racing weekend when teams from across the state of Wyoming gather to race as fast as they can go. See the image above for a detailed map of the courses, racing starts at 1 PM Friday with the 7.5K skate race and 10 AM Saturday for the 5K classic race.
Today as part of the set up, most of the flags went out on the course. The Pisten Bully did some light grooming on the two courses plus some major re-sculpting of some of the canted sections of the trail. As of noon it was still a bit chilly with a temperature of -16ºC/3ºF, but the wind is calm and the sun shining so it feels pretty nice out there. Many of the trails weren’t groomed today but the cold dry conditions have preserved nice skiing all in all.
For the next few days the schedule is as follows;
- Thursday morning grooming of race courses
- Thursday afternoon course inspection
- Thursday evening grooming for Friday’s skate race
- Friday afternoon skate race
- Early Saturday morning grooming for classic race
- Saturday morning skate race
- Sunday catch up and back to normal
Groomer’s choice for today is to check out the race courses.
