Get outside today… the weather may be a mixed bag this week.

We will send our next report on Wednesday. Daily trail reports will resume once the weather is settled into a consistent wintry phase.

  • Turpin meadow had a full ginzu groom Saturday.
  • Moose – Wilson road is firm and well covered.
  • If a road trip is calling, Galena is in great condition, and the Harriman Trail is groomed from SNRA to Galena Lodge.

General Weather – A little more sunshine

Mountain Weather forecasting snow, then maybe rain, which might be good motivation to get out right after breakfast.

What’s Groomed Today?

Hooray for a fully groomed set of trails at Turpin, snapshot from grooming page 12.20.25 6pm.

• Turpin Meadow Ranch – Groomers were able to get out on all of the Turpin Trails. Check real-time conditions for Sunday here.

• Teton Canyon – Sunday is not a scheduled grooming day, but the check the map.

• Grand Targhee – Sunday is a scheduled day for grooming the Nordic trails (likely skate only).

Moose – Wilson Road XC

Fun holiday XC ski outing on the Moose – Wilson Road, Saturday, Dec. 20.

Community trail report: Started at the Granite trailhead. Snow was firm, but there was a good set of xc ski tracks to glide on. Snowshoe and walker tracks too. We encountered only one other small group.

We’re all looking forward to more snow to add a soft layer to this firm base!

Senate Meadows, Galena Lodge, Ketchum, ID, Saturday, Dec. 20.

Community trail report: ~43 kilometers are groomed for skate and classic at Galena Lodge. The restaurant is open and busy. The Harriman trail is also groomed from the Sawtooth National Recreation Area parking to Galena Lodge.

If a road trip is calling to you, there is lots of snow and a solid base on these trails!

Updates from the Groomers

Turpin Meadow Ranch

While we definitely have more snow than most any other Nordic areas in Jackson Hole or Teton Valley it is early season conditions out there. This means you will encounter some humps and bumps in the trail and an occasional baby tree or willow sticking out. There is a line to follow on every trail but it is not always the full width of the trail. Please pay attention to what’s in front of you, choose your lines wisely, know that the trails should get better everyday from here on out, and enjoy some time on snow!

The best conditions are likely found on the summer home and riverside trails. The hills are good to go also, with more favorable conditions in the lower pasture. I would recommend avoiding the trail that connects the willow loops to the mule pasture as it only received one pass with the ginzu today and the snow coverage is the thinnest of all in that area.

There is a classic track is set *mostly* everywhere.

Welcome back, winter is here in the Buffalo Valley!
