Daily Trail Report for 2.9.26.

Great achievements are made through steady incremental growth. Here’s hoping for some steady incremental snowfall to refresh our mountains and valleys. May we each steadily step out onto winter trails this week and see the growth of the snowbanks and in ourselves as we embrace whatever comes our way.

With a nod to the ongoing winter Olympics, savor some wisdom from the US Head Coach of the cross-country team, Matt Whitcomb: “As the level of professionalism and resources has climbed, it’s remained fun and enjoyable, and we haven’t lost a human value.”

So remember to strive for achievement through little steps, keep it fun out there friends, and cling to your values.

“Step by step, day by day, mile by mile, go your own way” -Whitney Houston

Local Winners in Races Near and Far

Elijah Weenig won the 2026 Boulder Mountain Tour on Saturday, photo from Andrea W.

Skiing for Sun Valley Gold but also sponsored by JH Ski Club, local Elijah Weenig was “super stoked” to be at the top of the podium at Saturday’s Boulder Mountain Tour in Ketchum, Idaho skiing fast and finishing 34km in 1:11:12.1.

I spoke with his mom who said he’s been dealing with a frustrating injury the first half of the race season. Elijah said “it feels good to be back in the mix again and having fun. It felt really good to have solid racing and training the last few weeks.”

While he faced a real mental challenge, Elijah definitely aimed for achievement through incremental steps: redirecting his energy, changing training plans, and shifting his mindset to recovery. We can all celebrate that Elijah is feeling good and no longer in pain and learn from his lesson of grit: persevering with your values and joy intact.
