Daily Trail Report for 1.25.26.

While yesterday’s post focused on inspiring you to try a local race, today turns toward the upcoming Olympics (though we still encourage you to toe the line close to home, too). Cross-country ski racing brings people together (whether on familiar neighborhood trails or the world stage) through shared effort and mutual respect.

At the STAmpede yesterday I met folks brand new to the sport, caught up with industry friends, and unexpectedly reunited with an old acquaintance. We were all drawn together by the simple act of sliding on snow and supporting beloved athletes. These moments reflect the Olympic spirit at its best: fostering camaraderie, strengthening community, and reminding us that sport can be an avenue for peace.

Olympic Cross Country Ski Team Announced

FasterSkier recently published an article detailing the eight women and eight men named to represent the USA in the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Val di Fiemme, Italy, from Feb. 6-22, 2026.

Half of the team has competed in prior Olympics with 8 first time Olympians joining this year. 5 team members are from Alaska, while there are two team members from Idaho (Sammy Smith from Boise and John Steel Hagenbuch from Ketchum). And two team members are from my home state of Minnesota, one of them is even from my home town (Jessie Diggins, Afton, MN)!

Read the article to find out why Cross Country Team USA could be medal threats this year. It also includes the race schedule should you like to tune in and cheer.

WyoFile Features 3 Wyoming Olympic Athletes

Three Wyoming women will be competing this year in the winter Olympics and WyoFile has recently published a featured top story about them.

Get inspired by these athletes: a Jackson Hole racer returning to conquer the very Italian slopes that once derailed her, a local moguls medalist and a trail-blazing ski mountaineer making history in a debut Olympic event. Dive into their journeys of grit, hometown pride, and big-mountain dreams on the world’s biggest stage.
