In Memory of Jack – Ski Day Today
Jack was the founder of Teton Pines Nordic Center, Owner-operator for over 25 years. Father, husband, friend to many, a wonderful community member who will be missed.
Please join the Bellorado family and the Jackson Hole Nordic community this Saturday at Teton Pines Nordic Center for a ski day to honor Jack. Meet at 3:45pm this Saturday March 9, at the ski rack outside the nordic center ready to ski. A few people close to Jack will share some stories and then we will head out for a short ski on the Greens Loop. Light refreshments and drinks will follow inside the nordic center.
Please give us a call if you have any questions at: (307)733-1733. We are located at Teton Pines Country Club: 3450 Clubhouse Wilson, WY 83014.
Next Week – USCSA National Championship
March 12-16
This is a rare opportunity to watch college national champion nordic skiers here at Trail Creek! Hosted by the JH Ski Club. Trail Creek is hosting the USCSA National Championships March 12-16. Skiers from all across the continent will be competing in races throughout the week to see who is the fastest in the nation. It should be a great spectator opportunity and while the fields around the cabin will be maxed out with the races, our members are welcome to ski in the woods throughout the week. Details about the event can be found on the USCSA website.
Over 500 competitors will compete for National collegiate titles in alpine, Nordic, snowboard and freeski. Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club, Snow King Resort, and Snow King Mountain are partnering to host the event.

Problematic Potentiometer!
The Pisten Bully has a steering wheel which connects to an electrical device called a potentiometer. As the steering wheel turns, the potentiometer varies the voltage output which can be use to make things like tracks go faster or slower. As the steering wheel turns the voltage is supposed to gradually move from higher to lower or lower to higher depending on the direction of turning. In recent weeks the Pisten Bully has developed a tendency to operate in an erratic manner. With the help of our trusty mechanic yesterday we were able to diagnose that our potentiometer is failing. However, the news is mostly good as a new potentiometer is relatively inexpensive, is readily available, and that it is safe to operate the Pisten Bully until the new one can be installed.
What this means to you if you are still awake after that long and detailed paragraph is that if you are lucky enough to be able to come out for a TGIF ski today, you will find lots of Pisten Bully grooming. Today’s grooming was double passes with fresh classic tracks of not only the USCSA courses but also the March 16th Sandbag Final course as well which is pictured below. In addition to these trails, Woolsey Woods and Homeward/Outward Bound received double passes.
We are experiencing a lot of wildlife pressure in the close woods, the elk herd stood still long enough today to allow a slightly fuzzy picture and we also now are home to a celebrity moose sporting matching yellow ear tags and a dazzling GPS collar. She is usually spotted wandering the trails with her accompanying twins.

Last call: this is the closing weekend for Turpin’s winter season. Come build strength, balance, and confidence through Nordic sport. The trails are in great shape, the food is mouthwatering, and there are still a few rooms available if you want to stay this weekend. Monday March 11 is the last day that trails will be groomed and lunch will be served this winter.
This is the last weekend of grooming and lodge operations at Turpin. Big thanks to Turpin for hosting the Annual JH Nordic Alliance Free Nordic Ski, Fat Bike, Snowshoe day in January. Mark your calendar for the 4th Annual Free event next year on Sunday, January 5th 2020!!

Come out and ski!! The sun is out and the skate skiing is awesome!! The classic track is groomed but the skate conditions are better. The next few mornings will start with cold temps so we recommend waiting until mid-morning once things soften up. March is here, so expect the freeze thaw cycle to continue for the remainder of the season. We are open 9am-4pm daily. Please give us a call at: (307)733-1733 with questions.

Alta Track
Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Last Updated: 3/7 @ 9am
Skate: Fair | Classic: Good
Had to stop grooming at 8am. The snowmobile skis and track were starting to damage the skate lane and snow was too sticky to cover it with the groomer. Before stopping, the classic track was set on all but the inner loops on the north half of the track. Skate lane was touched up on all of the south half and none of the North. Classic skiing should be pretty good. Skating will be just okay. Will update the report if able to make any other improvements (temperature dependent).
