Grand Teton National Park Returns to Full Operations

With the enactment of the continuing resolution, staff at Grand Teton National Park are in the process of resuming regular operations. The safety and well-being of park employees and visitors is the top priority during this process. Based on the lengthy duration of the closure, it will take some time to fully assess facility conditions, address potential safety issues, remove accumulated snow, and return systems to normal operations.

Trail Creek Report

The Bluebirds Are Flying!

Nothing but endless cerulean blue covering Trail Creek today as our recent mini dry spell continues for another bluebird day. As of 11:45 AM in addition to the blazing sunshine, the wind is calm and the temperature is -14ºC/7ºF.

This week’s focus in addition to assuring some nice skiing for everyone is to prepare for Friday and Saturday’s Wyoming High School races.  If things go according to plan, the courses will be marked on Wednesday with grooming for Friday’s race happening Thursday evening.  Saturday’s classic course is through the woods which have been having significant overnight moose and elk traffic so that course will be set early morning Saturday.  The course map is here.

Today’s grooming was with the Pisten Bully and entailed double tracks through the fields with fresh classic tracks and a single skate only pass through almost all woods trails.  Conditions are firming up significantly but skate lanes are still quite carve able and fast while the classic tracks are firm, crisp, and should ski well too.

Groomer’s choice for today is Armin’s
