Pistenbully is Back!
Over the past few days, Teton Parks & Rec hasn’t been able to groom with the Pistenbully due to mechanical issues with their trailer. Today, the trailer is fixed and tomorrow they’ll be back to grooming with the Pistenbully!!
Trail report- Taggart to Lucas Fabian. Cabins via Cottonwood Trail
Beautiful in GTNP today.. so much new snow, light, quite skiable. Hard work breaking trail, though thankfully we had s few skiers ahead of us for most of it. Cheers to the groomer who is coming Friday! Conditions should be exceptional this weekend.

How Are We Doing?!
Snow wise that is, the image to the left was taken this morning near the old boiler right beside the trail. While 42 inches of snow is a pretty impressive depth, you might ask how does that stacks up to historical averages? Glad that you should ask; looking at the image below you see that the Snake River Basin is currently sitting at 88% of average which although slightly below average, still puts us in a “normal year” range. Phillips Bench which is the closest monitoring point to Trail Creek is at 90% as of today. 42 inches of snow is plenty for some really good Nordic Skiing.
If you are looking for some good Nordic skiing today you should come on out to Trail Creek. Of those 42 inches, about 6 came overnight in a very dry form. While the dry flow able nature of last night’s snow did slow grooming somewhat, every major trail except for Homesite, Suicide, and Animal Farm re
ceived double passes. It was an unusually beautiful morning to
day with more or less a clean slate in the fields as shown below due to some pretty good winds overnight.
As of 12:15 the winds have picked up again to the light to moderate range, the sky is mostly sunny, and it is a warm -3ºC/27ºF temperature. Groomer’s choice for today is Woolsey Woods.

Grand Targhee Grooming Report
Last Updated: 1/24
If you went to bed stuck in a dream of bottomless turns and the deep, light powder of yesterday the dream continues today! The 18″ Grand Targhee has received in the last 24 hours hasn’t gone anywhere. 18″ is enough snow for a powder day within a powder day, all within a single day. Powder-ception! Conditions will be more of the same today; with an additional 2″ overnight, many of those tracks will have, again, dissolved into the great white canvas of Fred’s Mountain. So, wake up and find yourself, once again, in that world of blower powder and untracked slopes!
Cross Country/Fat Bike 15k: XC OPEN (Last groomed AM 1/24/2019), Fat Bike CLOSED.

Alta Track
Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Last Updated: 1/24 @ 3am
Skate: Fair | Classic: Good
Rolled Alta Track through much of the night, finishing up at 3am. Last pass was with ginzu groomer to set classic track. Didn’t groom quicky loop or the NW inner loop. Will try to get to them tomorrow (around 11am) and clean up some of the clumps on the skate track. Was a bit of a battle breaking through drifts, but came overall the groom went okay. Will be soft, but not shin/knee deep!
