Trails are improving gradually and every outing counts!

Seasons don’t always arrive all at once, this winter in particular, but neither does progress. No matter what’s going on “out there,” there is something grounding about stepping outside. Getting onto the trails offers fresh air, perspective, and that magical sense of contentment that comes from moving across winter landscapes. A short glide, a careful step, a few quiet miles, all these small moments add up. Just like snow builds trails one flake at a time, meaningful change often begins with micro habits and patient persistence. Trails will continue to improve incrementally in the days ahead, and in the meantime getting out there is its own reward.

Even on challenging weather days it’s worth it to get out and move. Photo from Turpin Meadow Ranch last week.

Updates from the Groomers

Southern Valley Trails

The fine folks at TVTAP rolled out the entire system, mostly to prepare the base yesterday. Skate track has been packed on all loops, classic track has not been established as the snowpack is too thin. Expect early season conditions with shrubs and rocks poking through.

Teton Pines Nordic

There are 2k of trails groomed daily and hopefully more will be added soon. It’s never too early to get your season pass as the snow will add up and winter will arrive!

Trail Creek Nordic

3-4 inches of very heavy, wet snow fell at Trail Creek overnight on Thursday taking them one step closer to their full winter glory!  The groomer is hopeful about keeping the snow they have even with the warm temps.

Turpin Meadow Ranch

If you’re looking for a winter wonderland with trails in tip-top conditions Turpin is the place to explore.

Honorable Mentions

Grand Teton National Park

From Buckrail: For those who are itching to get out their cross-country ski gear and glide beneath the Tetons, the road is currently open to non-motorized traffic. But due to the small amount of snow on the ground, the path has not yet been groomed, according to the GTNP Foundation. The nonprofit confirmed that it will be funding the grooming of the park road for the 13th year.

The Foundation’s Vice President of Communications Maddy Johnson told Buckrail that updates will be posted on social media as soon as they occur. “The contractor we work with needs to have 12 inches of snow on the road surface in order to groom and, unfortunately, we don’t have enough snow yet,” Johnson wrote in an email. “We are checking conditions daily.”

Shooting Star

The groomer at Shooting Star is reporting that there is snow, however

coverage is still on the light side and below minimal grooming depths; but it is a nice start for what appears to be the start of several steady days’ worth of mostly snowfall. Trails will continue to remain closed until further notice. At this time, the game plan is to let it snow and staff will continue to pack and prep trails as conditions allow. Reminder to stay off the trails and golf course to prevent damaging the track or golf course.
