Pistenbully is Back!

Over the past few days, Teton Parks & Rec hasn’t been able to groom with the Pistenbully due to mechanical issues with their trailer. The trailer is now fixed and back to grooming with the Pistenbully!!

Breaking Trail in GTNP!

Thursday, skiing out to Jenny lake via the Cottonwood Creek Trail. So much fresh snow, the usual skier track disappeared just north of Lucas Fabian cabins. Breaking trail was quite the workout! Photo by Andrea R.

Trail Creek Report

Twins!

The Trail Creek grooming report has to post pictures of moose every few weeks as they are one of the beloved creatures of our world, even though their massive tracks can cause a bit of consternation on your otherwise wonderful Nordic ski. Anyway this very productive mama moose was spotted leading her twins around the Armin’s area this morning.  Twins are not common although it seems like every winter we get a pair or two.  They do seem to be a bit smaller than their single calf peers but these two even though small, seem to be doing just fine so far.

Today was a day of catch up at Trail Creek.  The wind did pick up a bit yesterday so all but the most protected forest trails received fresh classic tracks this morning and pretty much every trail received fresh PistenBully skate grooming as well.  At noon today snow had once again begun to fall with calm winds and a temperature of -6ºC/22ºF. Groomer’s choice for today is Gut Flop.

Trails are in great shape! Skiing on Wednesday will be on the powdery side from the current storm and then progressively firm up through the week. Enjoy!

Next Update: Saturday

Grand Targhee Grooming Report
Last Updated: 1/25

Partly cloudy to clear skies this morning will make it easy to seek-and-destroy the remaining lines of untouched powder on the mountain. Set those skis and boards to the “powder-seeking” setting, aim them downhill, then engage and let them do the rest! Gradually, a new short-duration storm system will work its way into the area, dropping an additional 2-4″ so be ready to recalibrate to “extra powder.”

Cross Country/Fat Bike 15k: XC OPEN (Last groomed AM 1/24/2019, no classic), Fat Bike OPEN.

Alta Track

Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Last Updated: 1/24 @ 3am
Skate: Fair  |  Classic: Good
Rolled Alta Track through much of the night, finishing up at 3am. Last pass was with ginzu groomer to set classic track. Didn’t groom quicky loop or the NW inner loop. Will try to get to them tomorrow (around 11am) and clean up some of the clumps on the skate track. Was a bit of a battle breaking through drifts, but came overall the groom went okay. Will be soft, but not shin/knee deep!
