SKI REPORTS

Slightly warmer conditions should greet the area today which will contribute to yet another good day of early season Nordic skiing on area trails.  While eventually the snow does tend to get a little tired with multiple cold days without fresh snow, nice conditions should generally continue for some days to come.  The National Weather Service does call for precipitation returning in the 6-10 day forecast.  Make sure you scroll down to upcoming events as there is a lot going on in the area.

Report date: 12/5

A report came in today from Game Creek where Teton County did the first Pisten Bully grooming of the year.  While a little additional coverage will be nice, in general the skiing was great and the groomer did a fantastic job!

GROOMING REPORTS

Trail Creek Grooming Report

Last updated: 12/5

Grooming to Glory!

Most likely on a previous Nordic peregrination your gaze has wandered upward from Armin’s to the magnificent Glory Bowl, seemingly just a short distance away but realistically a 4,000 foot climb and untenable for all but the hardiest of Nordic skiers. Even if you aren’t in the latter camp, having the summit on your horizon still enhances the ski and makes your day better. Make sure to check it out on your next outing.
Today at Trail Creek the temperature is in the falling off the bottom of the official thermometer range at an invigorating -18ºC/-4ºF as of 11:45 AM although the calm wind and a bit of sunshine is tempering that a bit. No new snow fell overnight and the Pisten Bully skate groomed all recently groomed trails with additional classic passes in the close field and a few spots in the woods. Reasonable to good classic tracks also can still be found in Woolsey Woods, Moose Loop, and Armin’s.

Groomer’s choice for today is laps in the somewhat sunny close field.

Shooting Star Grooming Report

Last Updated: 12/2

All trails are now open! Skiing should be great considering the time of year. We’re still a ways out for the snow to be deep enough for setting the classic tracks. Bundle up and enjoy the blue bird forecast. Next update will likely be Thursday.

Below are some other details:

  • Tight corners may be soft/rough  as its difficult for the grooming equipment to navigate through them(Example: Sharp Turn from 8 Green to 9 Tees)
  • Early Season Conditions Persist (Rocky/grassy/Inconsistent profile depth & compaction)
  • Be aware of soft spots
  • No Classic Track will be set until snowpack increases
  • Conditions will improve as more snow accumulates
  • Grooming frequencies may vary depending on snow conditions

Enjoy!

Skate: Poor  |  Classic: Poor
Comments: Saturday, 12/1 Teton Springs was groomed for the first time this year. I’m giving the trail a “poor” condition due to the amount of vegetation poking through the groomed surface in a few areas. Most of the trail is in good condition. We need one more storm and the trail will be great.
Ski carefully as the base depth is only a few inches deep.
