Nordic Skiing with Teton Adaptive Sports

Joe Stone, Director of Mission, at Teton Adaptive Sports, introduced JHNordic to Adaptive Nordic skiing today. Think double-poling all the time! Joe also alpine skis, rides a mountain bike hand-cycle, and para-glides in the summer. He is amazingly strong and agile, double poling right through today’s snowstorm!

Trail Creek Nordic

Last Updated: 2/16

So Much Fun!
Thanks to Coaches Libby and Kathy for sending in some great pictures of Teewinots above and Lollipoppers below, enjoying a great powder day at Trail Creek yesterday; conditions might not have been Olympic ready, but that didn’t stop a lot of fun from happening.

You too can find some fun today at Trail Creek.  Since yesterday’s grooming about 6 inches of snow has fallen.  The initial plan for the day was to take the Ginzu groomer out, resetting both classic tracks and skate lanes.  However, after moving about 100 meters, the Ginzu groomer proceeded to go on strike, right smack dab in the middle of the already rolled stadium.  Being that conditions there were as firm there as anywhere, the only obvious course of action was to focus on rolling today, with the Ginzu being called back into service tomorrow after all the recent snowfall has had a chance to consolidate a bit.

Things did go well with the roller and almost every trail did receive at least two passes.  The close field received three passes although there was some moderate drifting going on at the end of grooming.  The preexisting classic track was left untouched on most woods trails and will probably ski ok, classic skiers might also take the skate lanes and skaters will be able to make progress through the beautiful snowy woods today, although that pace might be a bit slow with all the new snow.

Groomer’s choice for today is Cle’s Climb.

Cache Creek

Last Updated: 2/13
Groomed Cache to Noker 2 wide, hagen, sidewalk, hagen highway, river trail, and sidewalk around the trailhead.  The sidewalk between the trailhead and bridge 2 is wind hammered and not groomable right now by human power but everything else should set up nice with the colder temps tonight.

Grooming provided by Friends of Pathways.

Turpin Meadow Ranch

Last Updated: 2/16
There has been a bit of snow which may tempt you to go downhill but the Nordic at Turpin is worthy of your attention too. The trails are in prime condition and if you fancy an off track snowshoe adventure the snow is set up pretty great. Do ski and snowshoe with situational awareness as there have been a couple of moose very near the trails, especially in the hills. Please plan ahead if you choose to ski with us on Thursday February 18 as there will be no lunch service due to a private event. And as always, bring a mask and socially distance when in the lodge office area.
