Who Ya Gonna Call?

When you find yourself in a dangerous position in the backcountry, do you know who to call in an Emergency on Nordic and Winter Trails? This newest article by Gregory Zeigler highlights how things can get very serious, very quickly regardless if you are in the back country or a valley subdivision. The article includes a step by step plan and other handy suggestions for preparation. This is a valuable read and worth sharing with others who love to recreate in winter.

Moose Chase!
It’s a beautiful, pristine morning at Trail Creek, and the trails are buzzing! Dozens of trail crewmembers and volunteers have taken to the course with a will, erecting fences, placing flags, and making everything perfect for the long-awaited return of the Moose Chase! Fortunately, the moose have mostly stayed off the course, save for a customary placement of droppings just outside the stadium – but would it really be the Moose Chase without that? I say nay! So do horses, while Moose make more of a grunting noise, which is a fun coincidence, since that’s also what most of the racers will be making today!

Groomer’s Choice is the Moose Chase!

Shooting Star

Grooming Daily
Last Update: 2/9
The course received heavy drifting overnight and we will be taking advantage of the additional snow coverage to do a mid-season refresh of sorts on the trails today. Aggressive grooming will be ongoing through 10am, with holes 3-9 being the last holes to worked over, which will likely begin around 830am. Today’s grooming will help set us up for the upcoming spring snow profile shift that typically occurs towards the end of the month. Skiing should be very enjoyable today and look for temps to get above 0*F around lunchtime.

Please help support trail grooming in GTNP by donating to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation. It’s easy and encouraged. All you need to do is visit: GTNPF.org/donate/ and leave the comment “Nordic” in the designation section. There is the opportunity to leave a one time gift or reoccurring monthly donations in any amount.

Turpin Meadow Ranch is open to all for skiing, lodging, dining, Nordic lessons, and tours! Ours is a short season so be sure to plan a visit this winter between now and March 13, 2022. Call the office (307) 543-2000 or visit our website to book your adventure and/or meal!

Saturday morning I did my Sunday groom due to a schedule conflict. I was able to reset the skate track and left the classic track alone as it was in great shape. It should be a nice day with great conditions. Beware of the Moose on Yeti’s loop. There’s a big boy hanging out. Enjoy the glide.
