Stilson to Jackson - via Hwy22 Pathway

Jackson

Fee: $0.00 - donations appreciated

Access:

The trail begins at Stilson Park, near the intersection of Hwy 22 and 390, just west of the Snake River Bridge in Wilson. Alternatively, it can be accessed in Jackson at the Jackson High School, on High School Road, near Smith's Food, off South Hwy 89. Parking is available on both sides.

Description:

Thanks to Teton Co., Community Pathways, Friends of Pathways, and community supporters, this trail is part of the summer paved pathways system around Teton County. In winter, the pathway is plowed, allowing access for fat bikers, walkers, and runners between Stilson Park in Wilson and the Jackson High School in the south section of Jackson. The plowing, funded by public contributions and community donations, may leave a varied surface, including snow, ice, pavement, and puddles during a thaw.

Skiing Experience: The trail provides a mix of surfaces, offering a varied skiing experience suitable for fat bikers, walkers, and runners. Be prepared for changing conditions, especially in shady spots.

Directions:
Beginnings: Start at the Stilson Park "transport" parking area. Head east out of the parking area, get on the bike path running parallel to the road, and head south through the tunnel.
Uphill Stretch: The trail climbs gently uphill for 300 yards, then crests and heads downward toward the Indian Springs entrance.
Views: Enjoy scenic views of the Tetons along the Walton Ranch, including horses and hay stacks. The trail traverses meadows, crosses the Snake River bike bridge, and follows the edge of the Walton Ranch.
Extended Exploration:
Emily's Pond Dike Trail: Begin at Emily's Pond parking area and follow the dike trail for a nice side trip add-on.
Garman Trail: To continue riding into the downtown section of Jackson, turn left at Gregory Lane and look for the Garman Pathway 50 yards along on the east side. The Garman Trail runs from the schools to behind the new Post Office, crossing under Hwy 89 via the bike path tunnel, then following Flat Creek.
Return: Return via the same path.

Winter Grooming: The pathway is plowed, providing a snow-covered surface. Conditions may vary, including snow, ice, pavement, and puddles during a thaw.

Fat Bikers: The trail is particularly enjoyable for fat biking during the winter season.
