While the 2016-2017 water season is rapidly winding down, Nordic skiing and snow shoeing are still possible in Grand Teton National Park, north of Taggart Lake on the snowy crust, on most aspects, up to the Yellowstone boundary. The area around 2 Oceans Lake Trail is also good on classic skis.
Timing, temperatures and weather are everything, between the firm snow crust being very firm and too soft.
The same applies to Togwotee Pass area, east of Hatchett, and highest parts of the Gros Ventre range. Bring bear spray, and be alert for wildlife.
Grand Targhee Nordic and Fat Bike trails are groomed and in excellent condition thanks to higher elevation. Open until April 16th.
Stay in touch until next season via the JHNordic Trails Report email - produced periodically until we gear up for next season! For new and what's coming in Nordic, Fat Biking and Snowshoe trails in Jackson Hole, Teton Valley , and region- all in one place -sign up for the Nordic Trails Report on our home page: JHNordic.com.
Grooming is supported by the JH Nordic Alliance, GTNP Foundation, Skinny Skis, Dornan's, Prugh Real Estate, the Wyoming Recreation Trails Program grant, and many generous donors help to make this Community-sponsored grooming possible.
